1) Presidents report - Juhi Kapur

Year in review

CoVelo continues its 7th year as a registered cycling club with Cycling Australia in the lower north shore of Sydney with a focus on social Saturday rides. There are approximately 130 riders who are associated with the club of which a large number ride regularly in one of the 4 ride groups fostering a healthy lifestyle and community connections.

Many members either individually or in groups participated in sportives such as Orange, Wagga Gears and Beers, Bowral Classic, Sydney to Gong and many others.

The club had its annual December function in 2018 with good turnout (given all other social commitments in silly season). A big thanks to Jennifer Paggi for single handedly organizing this.

After many years, there have been some changes in the co-ordination of club activities. Namely, the change in location of the coffee shop and the introduction of Team App as the primary rides events calendar and sign on. There are 131 members who subscribe. Which is almost 97% same as facebook group hence the club now has 3 channels of engagement with Facebook group and Teamapp being the most actively used, mobile friendly engagement channels. The introduction of Team App has been mixed in success with some groups using it effectively and others slower in adoption and change.

There has been a poll conducted in late Jan/ early February to the update of CoVelo Jerseys, however there was not much momentum in driving that forward. Perhaps this coming year will see an update.

The club considered the participation of Junior riders this year and the committee concluded that CoVelo in the last year was unable to offer rides to Juniors because of the protocols to be implemented before Junior riders are admitted as regular riders in the club.

Thanks to the executive committee and ride planning committee for their time in the administration required and club activities.

4) General Discusions

  • Rides calendar to be created 3 months in advance. The google calendar can be dropped.
  • Juhi to investigate a disclaimer at sign-on for TeamApp.
  • The ride leader can decide to prohibit riding on the top tube.
  • Jen will be looking at the new team jersey designs.
  • Mid-week ride - to post to TeamApp to see if there is sufficient interest.

Ideas for use of funds:
  • Web page redesign
  • Winter social
  • Subsidise jerseys
  • Charity rides
  • TeamApp so ads can be removed
