Ride Description:
This is a good ride for the A Group, it takes in both sides of Bobbin Head, as well as beautiful Berowra Waters. As Berowra Waters on this ride is an in and out climb, it is possible to omit it to cut out one of the climbs on the ride.

Like most of the Renegade Rides, this follows the Pacific Highway north. This early in the morning there are no problems with traffic. Just after the Mona Vale Rd intersection, you will have to ascend Pymble Hill. Just past the top, is the right hand turn onto Bobbin Head Rd. Because of the hill and the traffic lights, it is possible for the stronger climbers to open a gap on the slower climbs. It may be necessary for these stronger riders to stop briefly soon after turning onto Bobbin Head Rd to allow the group to reform.

The descent into Bobbin Head is a nice fun descent, most of the corners are quite gentle, but there is the odd tighter corner. The road surface is in quite good condition as well.

After climbing out on the North side and regrouping at the Toll Booth, the group will rejoin the Pacific Highway at Mt Colah. This section of the Pacific Highway has some rolling hills, the stronger riders need to be aware of this so that the group can keep together.

At Berowra, the group will take the left onto Berowra Waters Rd. This road takes several turns, if you are unsure of the route to Berowra Waters, follow the signs, there is one at each of the critical corners.

The descent into Berowra Waters is another favorite. Nice and bendy with good corners, generally fast on a good surface. There is a hairpin towards the bottom to be aware of, but that is pretty much it. At the bottom, perform a U-Turn and then climb back out.

As this is an in and out climb, it is possible to leave it out if you want to. This would reduce the distance by about 7km or so and save your legs for the ride back.

After regrouping at the top of the climb, the group will return to the Pacific Highway. At the Service Station just before the Highway, the group will often pull in to top up water bottles.

As before, the highway back to Mt Colah will take in the rolling hills. When riding back towards Bobbin Head along Ku-Ring-Gai Chase Rd, some of the stronger riders may start pushing the pace. The road is slightly downhill here and so there is an opportunity to ride faster. If you dont' want to ride at this pace, the group will regroup on the South side of Bobbin Head.

The North side of Bobbin Head is the steeper side, so it is possible to get quite a turn of speed on the descent. Unfortunately, some of the road is quite rippled and it can make this speed a bit unsafe at places. There are also two tighter corners, one just past the Kalkari Visitors Centre, and the other near the bottom.

There is a toilet block on the South side of the bridge which can allow for a brief stop over before climbing out on Bobbin Head Rd.

After reforming after the climb, the group will return to the Pacific Highway via Bobbin Head Rd and Bannockburn Rd. The turn onto Bannockburn Rd is a left then right just past the traffic lights at Burns Rd. Also, there is a right then left on Bannockburn Rd just past the roundabout at Pentecost Ave.

After rejoining the Pacific Highway, the group will descend back down Pymble Hill and follow the Highway back to Lane Cove, Renegade and the Cafe.
